Nanami Tsubomi (蕾 菜々美) is a minor character in Kakegurui. She is a housepet who gambled against Yumeko Jabami, Mary Saotome and Jun Kiwatari in order to lower her debt.
Appearance[]
Nanami is a short girl with fair skin and green eyes. She used to have long brown hair, but after she became a housepet for failing to pay the Student Council donations, it was cut by Jun. Currently, her hair is chin-length and her bangs are pinned to the left side of her head with a pink bead clip.
She wears the standard female Hyakkaou Private Academy school uniform.
Personality[]
Initially, Nanami is shown to be shy, quiet and quite anxious, to the point where she is utterly subordinated to Jun Kiwatari and willing to lose her chance to pay her debt and regain her normal student status while still living as a housepet.

She changed her attitude after meeting Yumeko Jabami, who convinced her that her submissiveness towards unreasonable people like Jun is wrong. During that time, she regained her will to fight for herself, and stopped feeling anger, sadness, and dismay, while remaining a nice and kind person.

Nanami used to have really long hair and she was admired by her fellow students. However, when she became a housepet, Jun quickly took her with him and cut her hair, despite Nanami's pleading where she screamed and was completely filled with despair. She decided not to try and resist him anymore and simply quietly follow his commands.

Nanami is shocked after Yumeko figures out her cheating
Nanami was first seen during Debt Swapping Game playing Indian Poker which was organized by the Student Council to help housepets lower or eliminate their debts. Though she at first didn't appear to do much, she was actually giving Jun signs to tell him which card he had shown to the group by positioning her cards differently. It is shortly discovered that Nanami is Jun's housepet and therefore has been forced into helping him win.
Nanami surprised by Yumeko's trick
When Yumeko found out about their trick, she told Nanami to ditch Jun unless she wants to continue being treated like this to the end of her life. Nanami was scared and nervous, but she eventually decided to go for the win herself. However, she didn't end up winning as Yumeko only used her to mess with Jun. But Nanami's debt was still lowered and she gained a lot of confidence.

During the election arc, she is still a housepet. She knows that for a housepet, the election is meaningless. However, she heard a rumor that Terano Totobami buys votes for 5 million Yen and she plans to sell her vote to her. But then two bullies threaten her and want her to purposefully lose her vote in a gamble. Nanami refuses, but then they want to get violent.
But, Yumeko interrupts them and suggests to play with all of them, so the bullies quickly leave. Yumeko then asks Nanami to play, since selling one vote would not be enough anyway. Nanami knows that if she loses, she is dead. But if she wins, she could save herself, so she accepts the gamble. She is later seen watching the tournament and reflecting about Yumeko. It is unknown what the outcome of the gamble was or if they have even played yet.
Manga[]
Nanami is shown reuniting with Yumeko after she was challenged to a gamble by Terano Totobami. Nanami was revealed to have been one of four housepets that had been recruited to be “NPCs” in the gamble.
As the gamble begins, Nanami teams up with Yumeko and Ryota after Yumeko subtly asked her to join them. After a while she is one of the five remaining players left in the gamble, Terano manages to convince her to turn against Yumeko and challenge her. Although she is hesitant at first, but with Yumeko’s urging she challenges her and loses much to her surprise.
As she had been tricked by Yumeko into thinking that she could beat her easily. Nonetheless, she feels satisfied that she took the initiative and feels better about herself.
Later on near the end of the election, Nanami is shown selling her vote for ¥100,000,000 to Sayaka (most likely having won the vote from Yumeko herself). Nanami had possibly paid off her debt entirely or used the Special Student Council Payment System for housepets, where they only had to pay ¥1,000,000 to free themselves from their housepets status. As apparently all of the other housepets used the Special Student Council Payment System to free themselves.
