Yumeko Jabami and Anzu, Midori, and Aruka.

The Girl Who is Now a Housepet is the fifth chapter overall and the first chapter of Volume Two of Kakegurui written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary[]

Due to her debt of 310 million yen, Yumeko Jabami became a pet, causing her fellow classmates treat her as trash, and, because of her immense debt, received a Life plan. Mary Saotome also receives a Life Plan, to which she completely rejects, but knows to get rid of it, she needs to pay back her debt. Suddenly, Yumeko receives a note, revealing that debt users will be given a chance to rid of their debt in a 'Debt Sorting Assembly'.

Plot[]

The chapter starts with Ryota Suzui monologue about the madness of Yumeko Jabami, reviewing all the events of the previous chapters. The students whispered about Yumeko's recent loss to a Student Council member, knowing she was an animal now. Yumeko, already with her identification, arrived in her room, apparently oblivious to the mocking whispers to her; he said good morning to his colleagues and noticed that some girls had vandalized his table. Three girls called her; Yumeko apologized for not going with them, but they laughed at her new status as an animal. The other's reaction was different from what they had expected, however, as she demonstrated that she accepted her title of housepet by starting to imitate a cat. The three, surprised, left and Ryota arrived just in time.

Elsewhere, Ryota tried to give Yumeko about a million yen she got from her parents because she believed she could recover the money with her skills. However, she didn't accept it because the Council hasn't charged her yet, and so she had about thirty million on her (from her victories against Mary Saotome and Itsuki Sumeragi). To which Ryota was discredited by what he had heard of the Council's strict demands, Yumeko showed him a notebook entitled "Life Plans."

In the Council room, the secretary informed the kigurumi girl, Yomotsuki, that Mary Saotome from the Second Year Flower Class wanted to see her. Without looking at her, Yomotsuki asked her to come in, even though the president wasn't there. Mary came in and answered Yomotsuki's question about what it was she wanted, but with another question and being about the booklet she received that morning called "Life Plans." Yomotsuki said that was exactly what it was and Mary looked at what was written in disgust, asking about it.

Yomotsuki won the phase of her game and got up, looking at what was in the notebook and explaining that what was written would happen in real life, congratulating her because she would be the wife of a politician named Zoko Orita, although she herself would not like to marry She talked to him because he was a disgusting lolicon, but since he also had a lot of money and public relations, he was quite a catch. Yomotsuki pointed out how it was all decided and Mary thought that, precisely because the school had strong links to economics and politics, she joined, but she still complained that she didn't want to marry someone she didn't know.

Yomotsuki repeated that everything has been decided and that there are many ways to force someone to do what has to be done. Mary tried to deny it, but Runa just told her she needed to pay what she owed, laughing and suggesting that she practice her ability to pleasure men, all to Mary's contempt. Ryota was surprised by what he read in Yumeko's life plans. However, this one was very interested in such methods of the academy.

The two were interrupted by a boy who said that Kiwatari from the Camellia Gang was calling her and he would guide her to where he was. Although Ryota wanted to go too, Yumeko said it wasn't necessary – although he followed them in secret. When they got there, Jun greeted her and then ordered her to take off her clothes (Ryota couldn't hear them well). Yumeko started to do it but stopped, asked if they planned to rape her. Jun denied it, but was irritated when she claimed they weren't her type, pinning her to the wall and threatening to rape her if that's what she wanted.

Ryota tried to intervene, but was stopped by the other two who watched. However, another person appeared on the scene: Midari Ikishima, chairman of the Beautification Committee, who decided to stop Jun's "wishes" herself. She took a gun from her briefcase and pointed it at him, explaining the rules of a Russian roulette bet. When he didn't seem to understand, Midari suggested that the gun was pointed at her, claiming it wouldn't take any risks for his side. Jun called her an idiot and left with the other two because he was no longer in the mood to the other's teasing screams. Yumeko thanks Midari for her help and says she would return the favor anytime.

Down the halls, Jun and his friends argued about the Council's eccentricity and Midari's weapon. Meanwhile, she herself complained of their cowardice and, apparently going against the president, pointed the gun at her head, excited when she found herself still alive. Thinking about Yumeko's offer, he claimed he would make her pay in full for it.

In the classroom, Ryota, worried about Yumeko, decided to take some action and went to her desk to invite her to a betting room, but was surprised when he saw her reading a pamphlet that had been distributed in the hallway, according to her, who spoke about the Solemnity of Discharge of Debts.
